Kathmandu: Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has strongly dismissed the rumors circulating about former President Bidya Devi Bhandari's return to active politics, urging party cadres not to be swayed by misleading speculation.
Speaking at a party event, Oli clarified that there has been no discussion within the party regarding Bhandari assuming any organizational responsibility. “There is no announced general convention, and no consultations have been held on what to do during one,” Oli said, rejecting claims of internal planning for her re-entry.
He described the rumors as an “evil attempt” to sow confusion and weaken party unity. Oli directed party members to counter such propaganda and maintain discipline. “Firmly reject such misleading narratives. Do not let confusion disrupt the morale of our party cadres,” he said.
Oli also cautioned against airing internal party matters on social media and warned members not to belittle or insult the party publicly. “Respond to such actions if necessary, but do not compromise the dignity of the party,” he added.
The statement comes amid growing speculation in political circles and media about Bhandari’s possible political re-engagement following her term as president.
